Abstract

The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) has introduced transformative possibilities
across multiple sectors, with science education emerging as a critical domain for leveraging AI to
drive national development. This study examines the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing
science education and its broad implications for sustainable national growth. AI technologies
such as intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning platforms, virtual laboratories, and data-
driven assessment tools are increasingly reshaping how scientific knowledge is delivered,
accessed, and applied. In science education, AI enables personalized learning experiences,
improves conceptual understanding of complex scientific phenomena, supports inquiry-based
learning, and enhances learners' problem-solving and analytical skills. These improvements
contribute to the development of a scientifically literate workforce equipped with the
competencies required for innovation, industrial advancement, and evidence-based decision-
making. From a national development perspective, the integration of AI into science education
strengthens human capital development, fosters research and technological innovation, and
supports economic diversification in knowledge-driven economies, improving access to quality
science education, particularly in developing nations, AI has the potential to reduce educational
inequality and bridge skill gaps that hinder national progress. Furthermore, AI-supported science
education aligns with national priorities in areas such as healthcare, environmental
sustainability, energy, agriculture, and entrepreneurship. The effective deployment of AI in
science education also presents challenges, including infrastructural limitations, ethical
concerns, data privacy issues, and the need for teacher capacity building. Addressing these
challenges requires coherent policies, strategic investments, and collaboration among
governments, educational institutions, and technology developers. This study concludes that
artificial intelligence, when thoughtfully implemented within science education systems, serves
as a powerful catalyst for national development by nurturing innovation, enhancing educational
quality, and promoting long-term socio-economic development.
