Abstract

The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into educational systems has emerged as a
transformative force globally, with significant implications for teaching practices, learning
outcomes, and national development. In Nigeria, Christian Religious Studies (CRS) occupies a
unique position in the educational curriculum, serving not only academic purposes but also
contributing to moral formation, character development, and social cohesion critical ingredients
for sustainable national development. This paper examines the potential of AI to enhance the
teaching and learning of CRS in Nigerian educational institutions and explores how such
integration can contribute to national development goals. The paper argues that for AI to effectively
serve the teaching of CRS and contribute to national development,, AI can be harnessed not only to
revitalize CRS teaching strategy but also to advance Nigeria's broader national development
agenda in Nigeria.
